About
Intuitive Pathos LLC builds physiological monitoring on a single principle: a person should be measured against themselves. The principle came from clinical practice, and the company exists because the fix turned out to be architectural.
Origin
Every nurse accumulates a private catalog of the moments when the instruments were confidently wrong. A patient whose numbers were fine and who was not. A patient who was worked up, escalated and labeled for being exactly who they had always been. Both are the same error wearing different clothes: a person compared against a distribution they were never part of.
What turns that from a frustration into a company is noticing three things about the error. It is systematic: it happens the same way every time. It is directional: it lands hardest on the people already least likely to be attended to. And it is fixable in the mathematics, not in asking tired people to be more vigilant.
The third point is the important one. If a safety property depends on somebody catching it, it will fail on the night when catching it is hardest. So the whole design question became: how do you build an instrument that cannot make this error, rather than one that is asked not to?
Every nurse has watched someone be told they were fine because their numbers matched a stranger’s. And watched someone else be treated as a problem for being exactly who they had always been.
Founder
Matthew is a registered nurse with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and the founder of Intuitive Pathos LLC. He spent about ten years in bedside practice, from 2015 to 2025, most of it on inpatient units. The largest share was psychiatric nursing, followed by neurology and neuro step-down, where he held SCRN stroke certification (since lapsed). He has not been in bedside practice since 2025.
Those settings are not incidental to the framework. Psychiatric care asks every shift whether a difference is a disorder, and a population norm is a poor way to answer it. In neurological assessment, the change that matters is usually a change from the patient’s own earlier state, and the direction that gets missed is reliably the quiet one.
He leads the company’s technical and clinical direction, and is the point of contact for clinical, research, government and investment conversations.
Pathos is the Greek for feeling, and for suffering: the thing that calls for a response rather than a judgment. Intuitive is the perception that arrives before it can be justified: what an experienced clinician knows about a patient before the chart agrees.
Together they name what the company is trying to instrument: the change a person is actually undergoing, seen early, without first being ranked against everybody else.

Products in development are described as products in development. Investigational means investigational. We do not describe performance we have not demonstrated, and we do not use regulatory or intellectual-property language we have not earned. On patents we say only this: Inventions are held under patent counsel. Nothing on this site states or implies that a patent application is pending or that a patent has issued.
Every page that makes a claim also carries what that claim does not cover. The framework page has a section on what the framework does not solve, and it is not the shortest section.
Where we can, we make a violation unrepresentable rather than prohibited. This costs us features. We consider that the correct trade and we make it deliberately.
Architectural decisions are recorded with their reasoning, kept immutable, and superseded rather than quietly edited. A decision whose rationale has been lost is a decision that will be reversed by accident.
